So Feburary hasn’t got off to a great start as I sit here with a bit of a cold! But I thought I would pick myself up by writing out my goals for February.
As mentioned in my Janaury Round Up I am going to be writing a post at the start of each month outlining my goals. I found that this actually helped a lot in January and it meant I could tackle things in bitesize chunks rather than worrying about the whole year.
Some things will be constant throughout the year – so I may not go into huge detail on them each month unless there is something particular I want to focus on or talk about.
So before I get into the main goals – here are just a few things I am going to keep ticking over from last month.
- Sort my shit out physically – keep up with my new fitness routine and keep trying to push myself and set new pb’s.
- Sort my shit out mentally – keep up with the journaling and meditation.
- Nature walk each week – because why not! Finding some lush local places at the moment.
- Body Positivity – keep listening to the Fat Chat podcast and following inspiring influencers. Hopefully, the messages will start to sink in.
- Going to Choir – because it’s so much fun!
What’s February got in store then?
I’m going to keep February kinda low key – as I think I need to recover a bit from January and March is looking set to be a busy (but very exciting) month. It also does me good to have a little downtime and not feel like I’m trying to cram too much in. I keep reminding myself that I have plenty of time to complete my list. So here we go…
Read a new book – EVERY MONTH

I’m going for something a little different this month. I have bought this book after a few recommendations from friends.
I am a bit of a sucker for self-help books and anything really that gets me thinking about my mind and habits. I find it all fascinating and love trying to implement new thoughts and ideas.
This also kind of goes into the Sorting my shit out mentally category – I’m really intrigued to read this and see what it uncovers.
Learn a new Piano piece – EVERY MONTH
So my lovely mum recently found a box of my old music books – and I found this gem in there. It has a huge range of pieces of varying levels, and so as I was flicking through I came across this piece. I love musicals and Les Miserable has some beautiful melodies. Gonna try and set a bit more structure to my piano practise this month so that I can try to learn the whole piece.
Watch more Anime

So throughout January, I started making a watch list of anime I wanted to watch/haven’t seen (for anyone who is into anime will know that there are tonnes of series out there). As this is still a pretty new genre for me, I’ve enlisted the help of friends and my brother to point me in the direction of some good series. I started watching Dr Stone a couple of weeks ago and so far really enjoying it.
A bit like my book reviews – once I have finished a series I will try and post a little review for you guys. I haven’t committed myself to one per month on this as some anime series have over 300 episodes.
This one however only has 24 episodes so should be able to get this one finished by the end of Feb.
Sort my shit out – financially
Now this one is one that I really want to crack! I have never been very good at managing my finances and have always felt like I am juggling to make sure everything is covered. With all the things I want to do this year – many of them are going to cost money so I have a really good excuse to start sorting my shit out!
I have set up monthly standing orders for my savings (one for house/flat and one for personal) and I have made a list of all of my monthly outgoings so that I have a clear idea of what needs to be covered.
What I am not very good at is managing the “spare” money – and I am going to be honest and say that I do fall victim to the “oh don’t worry I’ll put it on the credit card” trick. The problem is that it all adds up and then never gets paid off!
I am keen to know if anyone has any proven methods/tricks to help them keep tabs on their money? I’m open to trying anything – bear in mind that I am a very visual person so if it can be fun and engaging then all the better!
One thing I know I spend FAR too much money on is lunch. At work, we have this lush cafe and I am a very frequent visitor (pretty much daily). Well having added this up – it turns out I am spending over £100 per month just on lunches and coffee – which is ridiculous.
So I have decided no more (and I mean it this time)! I have gone out today and bought myself food to make lunches this week – and I am going to commit to having my own tea/coffee rather than the cafe variety.
I know that this is actually going to be a bit of a hard one for me – as I am a bit lazy when it comes to lunches and I use the cafe as my excuse to get away from my desk. In fact – I don’t need to go to the cafe for a walk, I could just go for a walk in my lunch break (crazy notion right!).
I think for me I need to approach this in the same way that I have with sorting my shit out physically – it’s not always going to be easy but ultimately it’s going to be better.
Besides – with the money I save per month on food, that could go towards my next tattoo sesh, my house savings, or just a fun day/night out.
